The 2008 Red Cross First Aid Team

The American Red Cross First Aid Team provides one of a kind medical services to the city of Lincoln. Since 1937, the Red Cross has provided a Community First Aid Team for at University of Nebraska-Lincoln Cornhusker football games. That program has grown to include Husker men's and women's basketball games and volleyball games and more than 300 community events. This includes performances at the Lied Center, Pershing, state high school championship games, SaltDogs Baseball Games, Star City parade and Midget Football.

Between July 1, 2007 and June 20, 2008, the First Aid team gave over 6,000 volunteer hours to protect the 2.5 million people who attended public events in Lincoln last year. 

In 2009, the team consists of over 230 volunteers, including basic First Aid, CPR & AED-trained individuals and state-licensed medical professionals, including emergency medical technicans (EMTs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and registered nurses (RN's). In summers 2009 and 2010, the American Red Cross will play a major role in supporting the City of Lincoln, when we host the National Special Olympics.

The First Aid Team is dedicated to our community's safety and can provide basic life support assistance at your event. Volunteer on the First Aid Team
Are you looking for a unique volunteer opportunity? The Red Cross is seeking volunteers to join the team and train to help at the 2010 Special Olympics, or any of the team's regularly scheduled events. Anyone that is willing to become trained and certified in First Aid, CPR and AED is eligible to join the team.
