BAT_Logo.jpgVolunteer Now: Basic Aid Training

The American Red Cross needs 300 volunteers to teach basic first aid for the Basic Aid Training (BAT) program. Since 1996, the Red Cross has taught fourth graders in Lincoln Public School classrooms the basics of first aid: "check-call-care," chest compressions, bleeding control and abdominal thrusts. More than 24,000 local students have received this lifesaving training.

NO teaching experience is necessary to volunteer, and certification in CPR/AED and First Aid is NOT required.

  • Volunteer assignments require daytime availability and a time committment of three hours per class.
  • New teachers are paired with an experienced instructor.
  • A short 1 1/2 hour training for all new BAT instructors is provided.
  • Training will begin in September 2011.

To volunteer, fill in the following form or contact Sarah Wobig, Basic Aid Training Specialist, at (402) 441-6395 or wobigs@usa.redcross.org.
